Maria is a lovely person and her house in Furnas is adorable.
The house is quaint, has all the described amenities and things that you would find in a home (scissors, needle, and thread) but without feeling like we had hijacked someone else's life...
As can happen when a place seems to affordable to be true. Maria tried to meet us, but we kept missing each other. That was fine by us because we got the house for its privacy even though it is situated right in the middle of town.
What wasn't described was the vast backyard where we sat on lawn chairs that swiveled back so we could drink wine and look at all of the stars that shine so bright on a clear night in the Azorian skies.
A ten-minute walk to the Poca Da Dona Beija hot springs and across the street from Terra Nostra garden was perfect. Aside from seeing the other volcanos, right in the middle of Furnas is where we wanted to be. Really couldn't have been nicer and we had way more space than we needed. if you are a person who is looking to unwind in a chill environment (especially outside) with coffee wine tea etc. this place is for you.
